Chris Verlinde spoke on Marine Research and Data Gathering

Chris is Santa Rosa County Marine Science Agent. Chris gave us information on our local watersheds and research activities in these areas.

One topic of interest to us locally was about the Santa Rosa County Oyster Reef Restoration and Education Program. This is a group effort between the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Service, Division of Aquaculture; Santa Rosa County School Board; Santa Rosa County Commissioners; and Sea Grant Extension.

Belle Buckley did our Design Corner this month and presented a beautiful traditional, symmetrical design of starburst lilies incorporating the "Happy Birthday" theme of the Hostess Committee. The design matched the color of the mauve container donated by Judith Begue.

In celebration of the Club's 30th Birthday in September and in honor of her own birthday on September 8th, Belle donated one of her prize possessions to the NGC's Library. It is a book on floral designs, "The Encyclopedia of FLOWER ARRANGING Decorating with Fresh, Dried & Pressed Flowers" by Rona Coleman & Sylvia Pepper. This book was given to Belle by Betty Pullum in 1989. Betty gave Belle the book for her achievements and encouragements in floral design and for putting on the Club's first Flower Show. Thank you Belle, we are so pleased and proud to have it in our Library.
