December 2004 Club Meeting

Leading off our meeting, Theresa Friday, Santa Rosa County Extension Service Horticulture representative gave us a tour of English gardens.

A great tour of English gardens

Our Birds and Butterflies Committee Chairman gave us an update on the status of the Butterfly House in Navarre in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan.

In her right hand is the product of the Junior Gardener training lecture on the life cycle of the butterfly.

She also gave us some great tips on recycling egg cartons for seed germination. She is getting us Milkweed seeds so we can grow Milkweed plants for ourselves and spread about the area to help in aiding the continued return of our migrating Monarch butterflies.

All these lovely items are made basically from recycled items. Lynn showed us these clever items contributed by club members. Instructions for creating these items were made available.

Our president draws tickets for some wonderful door prizes and for the Louisiana Giant Blue Iris plant-of-the-month plants.

One of the plants was won by a visitor to our club meeting. What a nice surprise.
